Hematology-Oncology

“I enjoy partnering with patients to get them through the difficult times that come along with cancer. It's rewarding to build these long term relationships with patients and see them through the months or years, becoming part of their healthcare family.”

— Dr. Diehl

Why did you decide to specialize in your treatment focus?

I wanted to be in a field where there was hope on the horizon. Hematology oncology is a challenging area of practice, but the research in this field is generating innovation in the treatment of the disease. With the continuous new developments, I'm excited to be able to offer new and better treatments for my patients.

How would you describe your approach to care?

I see myself not just as a clinician, but also as a patient guide. My goal is to share in their successes when things go well, and guide them through challenges when things get tough. It's these meaningful interactions with patients that I find most satisfying.

Of all the cancer treatment centers, why should a patient trust Fred Hutch and your team with their care?

Everyone in the Fred Hutch system is working together as a community providing both standard care and the latest treatments to ensure patients can live their best life. At Fred Hutch Evergreen, my goal is to bring the expertise developed through the research programs at Fred Hutch to the community so people don't have to commute to Seattle to take part in clinical trials and receive other leading-edge treatments.
