Curriculum-Based Kits

The Curriculum-Based Kits are made to support specific units and lessons developed by SEP. These kits do not contain any molecular biology equipment or reagents, but they do include modeling materials and lesson supports.

Curriculum-Based Kits

Illustration of blood cells and a female patient

This kit provides laminated resources, modeling supplies, and other materials to support the Frontiers Intro to Cancer: Leukemia and Hina’s Story Unit. It specifically contains resources for Lesson 1, 2, 4, and 5. Particularly helpful are the blood slides for Lesson 2 and “game pieces” for the classroom cell cycle model in Lesson 5.

This is the Illuminating Cancer storyline, which investigates the driving question: “How does protein structure determine its function?” Throughout the lesson set, students investigate how peptides (small proteins) derived from nature are being studied as possible treatments for cancer and other rare diseases.

This kit contains toobers for protein modeling, brain MRI examples, and clay for the tumor paint simulation activity.

SEP Teacher Sharing

We have set up a Google folder for teachers to share resources.

  • The Google folder contains a several subfolders on SEP kit-related topics shared by SEP teachers. There is also a subfolder on CRISPR resources, videos, and lessons.
  • Create new folders to add other resources you'd like to share but model the general structure in the CRISPR folder (for example, articles and videos are probably easiest to share in a hyperlinked document and SEP Teacher Lessons in their own folder).
  • Indicate your name on any lessons that you have developed.
