For women 40 and older, getting a yearly screening mammogram is an important part of your preventative health care, but it can be hard to find time for an appointment.

Fred Hutch's Mammogram Van makes it easier – we come closer to you. Our state-of-the-art van travels to neighborhood locations all over the greater Seattle area, making it fast and convenient to get the preventative care you need.

As of January 1, 2024, Washington state law (RCW 48.43.076) requires many health plans to cover certain breast imaging exams (including follow-up imaging after an abnormal screening mammogram, diagnostic mammograms and breast MRIs/ultrasounds for patients at high risk for breast cancer) with no patient cost-sharing. Contact your employer’s benefits administrator or health insurance carrier to understand your specific coverage.

Preparing for Your Mammogram

What to Expect

Our Mammogram Van delivers the same quality of care as screenings at our clinic locations. Appointments take about 15 minutes, and you do not need a referral.

The van has a reception area, two private changing rooms and an exam room where your mammogram screening will be done. After your appointment, radiologists at Fred Hutch will review your images within one business day. You will receive your results by mail within 10 business days.

What to Bring

Please bring:

  • Your medical insurance card. Most insurance plans cover annual mammogram screenings, but please contact your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm eligibility.
  • A picture ID
  • The name, phone number and address of your primary care provider.
