Dr. David Garcia conducts research on hematologic disorders, including antiphospholipid syndrome, cancer-associated thrombosis and the management of anti-coagulant-associated bleeding. He serves as section head of Non-Malignant Hematology within the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. As a hematologist, Dr. Garcia treats patients with bleeding and clotting disorders as well as other nonmalignant (classical) hematology disorders.
He is the former president of the Anticoagulation Forum; and has served in the past as the special section editor for Blood. Dr. Garcia has served as a member or chair of numerous scientific committees within the American Society of Hematology and is an editorial board member of Thrombosis Research and the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He has also co-authored numerous evidence-based guidelines related to the treatment or prevention of venous thromboembolism.
