U Village stores join 'Shop To Make a Difference' May 15-17

SEATTLE — May 7, 2009 — "Shop to Make a Difference," the University Village event that offers shoppers 20 percent off purchases at favorite stores and restaurants, celebrates its sixth year with a new and larger roster of participating retailers May 15-17. The event benefits Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Joining the roster this year are retailers Banana Republic, Cole Haan, crewcuts, GAP, J. Crew, Juicy Couture, lululemon athletica, Mercer, Tommy Bahama’s, and more. Returning stores include Anthropologie, Barnes & Noble, Eileen Fisher, Kid’s Club, Restoration Hardware, Smith & Hawken, and many more.

"Shop to Make a Difference" is an opportunity to enjoy big savings while supporting cancer research. Most of the stores will take 20 percent off their entire store – including in-season and exclusive merchandise that can be hard to find on sale. In addition, Crate & Barrel will donate 5 percent of houseware sales and glassybaby will donate 10 percent of all sales to the Hutchinson Center.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from Cure Card sales benefit women's cancer research at the Hutchinson Center.
