Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Expands Network, Welcomes St. Joseph Medical Center

SEATTLE — August 17, 2015 — Seattle Cancer Care Alliance announced today that has expanded its clinical care network, welcoming its newest member, St. Joseph Medical Center in Lewiston. The expansion will result in greater access to specialty cancer care options in the region.

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is the largest full-service medical center between Boise and Spokane, with more than 120 board-certified physicians and providers, active in primary care and specialty practice. Its medical group collective of 56 providers represents 19 specialties, from primary and family practice, to breast imaging, oncology and cardiology. St Joseph’s Cancer Center and Blood Institute is the only accredited community cancer center in the region.

“St. Joseph Medical Center oncology providers have collaborated with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for years,” said Michael Rooney, MD, Interim CEO and President, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. “This formal affiliation will further expand access to cancer treatment options and clinical advances, for our patients throughout the region.”

SCCA network affiliation supports expanded access to clinical research and standards of cancer care, while ensuring that community providers have access to new treatment developments and continued educational opportunities in support of better care coordination of all patients. The newest affiliation expands access for local patients to enroll in select clinical studies managed by St. Joseph oncologists in cooperation with SCCA’s lead investigators.

“We believe this affiliation has the potential to benefit both our clinical research mission and the clinical cancer care program at St. Joseph,” said Marc Stewart, MD and SCCA Medical Director.
