What Our Relationship Means for You

Cancer can impact your health in many ways. Fred Hutch and UW Medicine work as a team to bring you the specialized focus of a leading independent cancer center plus the comprehensive services of a top-ranked health system.

Double the Expertise

Through our integrated program, cancer care may be provided by either Fred Hutch or UW Medicine. Either way, you’ll receive care based on treatment standards developed and overseen by Fred Hutch and have access to clinical trials, innovative treatments and specialized equipment. This includes treatments like cellular immunotherapy, which Fred Hutch has been a leader in developing, technologies like PET-MRI used in diagnoses or robotic surgical systems that facilitate minimally invasive procedures. Together, we have more than 750 active clinical trials providing access to promising treatments, some available only through Fred Hutch and UW Medicine.

Your Providers

Our cancer care providers are dually credentialed to treat patients at Fred Hutch and UW Medicine locations.

The providers on your care team may practice primarily at Fred Hutch locations, at UW Medicine locations, or both; you may seem them wearing badges or apparel from both, or either, organization.

Your Care Locations

Through our relationship, we are able to offer cancer care clinics and services across more than a dozen locations. Some of these are operated by Fred Hutch and others by UW Medical Center with care based on treatment standards overseen by Fred Hutch.

When you first reach out to us, we work to make sure that you receive the right care at the right location. Sometimes your care will primarily be at a single location, but your treatment plan may include appointments at other Fred Hutch and UW Medical Center locations.

Your Health Record

Fred Hutch and UW Medicine share the same instance of Epic, where all your health records across both organizations are kept.

This makes it easy for your care team — who may see you at either Fred Hutch or UW Medical Center — to access your information no matter where you receive care. And you can manage all your treatment information using a single login for MyChart. 

Insurance and Billing

Because Fred Hutch and UW Medicine are independent, patients may receive bills from either, or both, organizations depending on the location, the provider you see and the services you receive.
