Hematology-Oncology

“I aim to provide evidence-based, compassionate care to all of my patients.”

— Dr. Gyurkocza

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

My beloved paternal grandmother died of lung cancer when I was 13 years old. This experience drove me toward medicine and the dynamic and evolving field of oncology.

What do you value about your work?

I highly value relatable, honest communication. It is very important to me that people with cancer understand their possibly complex medical conditions and the various treatment options that may be available so they can make informed decisions.

I love to celebrate transplant anniversaries and other milestones of my patients. I appreciate seeing photos of new babies born to people after being treated for their cancer or after bone marrow transplantation. I value celebrating the big and small things in life every day.
