Radiology

“I prioritize precision and accuracy, using advanced imaging techniques to deliver diagnoses so patients can receive the best possible treatment plan.”

— Dr. Mejias

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I once provided care for a young man who was nervous about undergoing a urethrogram. He was embarrassed and afraid it would be painful and uncomfortable. I took the time to explain the process to him in detail, answer all his questions and reassure him about what to expect. During the test, I made sure to provide a calm and supportive environment.

After it was over, he expressed relief and gratitude, saying it wasn't nearly as bad as he had anticipated. I was able to diagnose the problem, and it was successfully treated.

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

When my father was diagnosed with an indeterminate thyroid nodule, I knew that most cases are benign, but a few may be cancerous. So when he asked me for advice, I agreed with the recommendation for a biopsy. It turned out to be an invasive follicular carcinoma at an early stage — and completely curable. Even the smallest findings can change the course of someone's life, and I keep this in mind during my practice. I strive to make sure diagnoses are tailored to each unique circumstance and that they are conveyed in a timely manner.
