Sarcoma Surveillance

“I’m grateful to be part of applying the latest research to patient care. We all really value patients’ experiences and providing everyone with the necessary support.”

— Elizabeth

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I hope patients and families can feel less anxious and have a better understanding of their treatments when they're working with me. I want to do a great job explaining the process and their disease. I hope people feel less anxiety after we’ve been able to connect.

What do you value about your work and what brought you to oncology?

I always knew I wanted to work in health care because I like to learn about the human body and I enjoy helping people. Becoming a nurse was my first step, and I worked in oncology for several years. Then, I decided I wanted to dive deeper into assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and took the next step of becoming a nurse practitioner.

Area of Clinical Practice
Sarcoma

I am an advanced registered nurse practitioner who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic.

Sarcomas are rare forms of cancer that can be very challenging for both patients and their family members. I really want to help people feel like they have a good understanding of their condition and what to expect.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
