Hematology-Oncology

“I provide holistic care in collaboration with each patient. I believe it is crucial to provide equitable, high-quality patient care that prioritizes the whole person.”

— Haleigh

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

As someone married to a cancer survivor who is also actively managing their post-transplant complications, I have learned what it is like to have a loved one with complex medical needs. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma when he was two years old. After chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries and two blood and marrow transplants, he has been cancer-free for 25 years. I have a strong appreciation for the role of caregivers and their impact on patient outcomes, and I am invested in patients as well as the people serving as their support systems.

Do you have any favorite memories you’d like to share?

One year on Christmas, a beloved patient wore holiday pajamas and sang carols through the halls while holding a decorated IV pole. To celebrate other occasions, I have crafted birthday cards for patients using whatever I could find and made memory boxes for the parents of pediatric patients in honor of their child’s transplantation day. I have had fun throwing Fourth of July parties for patients in the hospital and turning off all the lights so we could watch the fireworks together. I wear enamel pins on my badge to work every day in remembrance of these stories and my reasons for working at Fred Hutch.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Blood and marrow transplantation, cellular immunotherapy

I see patients at the South Lake Union Clinic and Fred Hutch at UW Medical Center – Montlake.

I am fascinated by the cellular pathology of this area of practice and the innovative treatments that are continuously evolving. I value the opportunity to build relationships with patients and to invest in people on a personal and professional level.

I want patients to know I am here to be their advocate and that they are valuable and worthy of care that prioritizes their goals and values regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability or economic status. I aim to be approachable and compassionate and for all patients to receive the quality of care I would desire for my own loved ones.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
