Radiology

“My goal is to offer supportive and compassionate patient care that is based on the most up-to-date scientific evidence.”

— Dr. Lowry

Why do you practice radiology?

For Kathryn Lowry, MD, she decided to become a breast imager because she "believe[s] that breast imaging can improve women’s health by detecting breast cancers when they are smaller and more easily treated." "Undergoing screening and work-up for breast cancer is difficult in so many ways," she says. "As a breast imager, I hope to help patients feel supported throughout this process, and offer the information they need to make decisions that are aligned with their values." Dr. Lowry's hope is that we become better at estimating breast cancer risk for individual women so that we can maximize the benefit of screening for women who need it most, and reduce unnecessary testing in women at lower risk. When she's not working, Dr. Lowry says she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
