Hematology-Oncology

“I want the best care for all of my patients. I will be their advocate. I work for them. We, my team, my local staff, and the greater Fred Hutch, we are here to support each patient as an unique and special individual.”

— Dr. Norman

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

My goal is to be kind and direct with people. Patients want an honest assessment of what’s going on and to know their options. I want to help people understand their diagnoses so they can make good decisions about how to manage their care. If I can’t explain it to them in a way that makes sense to them, then I’m not doing my job right. I take great satisfaction in being an educator for my patients.

What do you value about your work?

I like people. I like my patients. I appreciate the intensity of our interaction and hearing their stories. Intellectually, I like puzzles; I like finding solutions for problems.

Working at an institution that's world-renowned means we can muster the power to do amazing things.
