Hematology-Oncology

“When you come to me to discuss treatment options, I focus on understanding what truly matters to you — your goals and values beyond just addressing the disease.”

— Dr. Wuliji

How would you describe your approach to care?

My approach to care is holistic and patient-centered. As a hematologist-oncologist, I believe in treating you as a whole individual, not just focusing on your disease. This involves understanding your unique medical history, concerns and life circumstances to provide personalized care. I believe that the best care comes from aligning medical decisions with what is most important to you in life.

Having additional specialized training in bone marrow transplantation and immunotherapy, I understand how incredibly challenging and demanding these processes are for you and your family. They require meticulous planning, precision and the ability to navigate complex medical scenarios. Throughout these treatments, I value the unique, vulnerable moments you share with me that drive my dedication to providing compassionate and comprehensive care.

A multidisciplinary approach is very important to me. Collaborating with a diverse team of specialists allows for comprehensive and tailored treatment strategies.

Hematology/oncology is a very fast-paced field, and I make it a priority to stay up to date on the latest advancements and studies. This commitment to continuous learning ensures that I can offer you the most current and effective treatments.

What do you want patients to know about you?

Having lost both of my parents, I have gained an intimate understanding of what it is like to be a family member of someone who is seriously ill. These experiences enhanced my empathy and understanding of the challenges you and your family face. My personal losses have strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, comprehensive care and underscored the importance of genuine empathy and open communication.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Adult blood and marrow transplantation, immunotherapy

I am a physician who sees patients at Fred Hutch at UW Medical Center - Montlake.

My primary research focuses on autoimmune diseases and how we can leverage our understanding of the immune system to treat these conditions, particularly through the use of bone marrow transplantation and immunotherapy. The rapidly evolving field of immunotherapy aims to harness the immune system's power to combat autoimmune disorders, offering new and promising treatment options. By evaluating the effectiveness of these therapies and exploring ways to improve them, our goal is to enhance patient outcomes and bring hope to those living with chronic autoimmune diseases.
