“I strive for my patients to feel well informed, know that I'm listening, and will be there to answer any of their questions. Dependability is a high-priority for me, in my personal and professional life.”

What brought you to oncology?

Honestly, I have always wanted to work in medicine. It felt like a natural path for me, which I realize is not always the case.

I started out at another major teaching hospital on a hospitalist team that took care of only active oncology patients. I gained most of my experience establishing this team from the beginning and determining how different roles within various specialties can work together to best serve our patients. It has truly been my dream to do this, and in this place, too. I have always loved Seattle.

What do you value about your work?

I enjoy the interaction with patients my role provides. They have many unique needs, and I like that I get to see people over time and build relationships. Connecting with patients outside of the medicine component and learning from them is one of my favorite parts of my day. When we both get to teach each other something, it creates a mutual learning experience and more personalized care.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dieticians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
