Oral Medicine

“We offer personalized treatment with a holistic approach. Collaboration among providers is very organized and attentive to the daily needs of patients.”

— Dr. Abasaeed

What do you value about your work?

I want patients to have all the information they need about their current and future treatment and complications to watch for. I hope they understand that we will always be there for them to support their care.

Oral health in a cancer setting is very important for nutrition, speech and general quality of life. We use our mouths so much that nothing about oral health is a small thing. Even something like dry lips can have significant impact on how a person feels. I am happy to care for patients coping with these challenges.

What brought you to oncology and what do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I was introduced to oncology as a student researcher detecting patients’ taste and smell before and after stem cell transplants. I realized I wanted to care for patients who were undergoing cancer treatment and improve each person’s quality of life.

My goal is to equip people with good information and offer a comprehensive evaluation of their condition and personal preferences so they can become their own advocates and know what to expect. I am passionate about public and community health and making sure people have everything they need while they are receiving care.
