Radiation Oncology

“I want patients to know I often think about their lives and I look forward to figuring out how I can help them. There is so much to deal with before cancer is even in the equation.”

— Dr. Vuong

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

Helping my grandfather navigate his prostate cancer care became a core motivation for me to go into medicine, and recently I have been able to assist my step-father with his own care for stomach cancer. These experiences have shown me how life can totally change for the patient and their family — I've also had sleepless nights and the worries of what will happen. As an oncologist, it is one of my priorities to make sure patients understand what to expect so they can regain a feeling of control.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I aim to learn what is important to my patients, and I strive to provide the care I would want for my loved ones. To me, this means making sure I work with patients to create a plan that makes sense for how they live life.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Genitourinary cancers, metastatic disease

I am a radiation oncologist who sees patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center - Proton Therapy, the South Lake Union Clinic and at Fred Hutch at UW Medical Center – Montlake.

I treat patients facing genitourinary malignances (prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancers) and metastatic disease. I feel very hopeful about what we can offer to treat genitourinary cancers, and there is so much potential to improve quality of life for patients dealing with metastatic disease.

My research focuses on how to better choose the right treatment for patients through developing biomarkers.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
